As a multi-purpose entertainment and hangout destination for the FLINTA* community, it’s creating vital and dedicated space for an underserved population in the festival circuit. Designed and built by Lucy Nurnberg and an all-FLINTA crew, the Mobile Dyke Bar is housed inside the shell of rented curtainside vans. Depending on its host location, it can function as a bar, a hangout destination, an entertainment space and a stage — but has become most famous for its legendary arm wrestling tournaments, with megaphone commentary by a dream team of Uhaul Dyke Rescue MCs.&nbsp; The Mobile Dyke Bar debuted at Mighty Hoopla festival in June 2024 and has since appeared at Glastonbury, Field Maneuvers, the 2026) Design and build of a new hangout space for the FLINTA (female, lesbian, intersexy, nonbinary, trans, agender) community at Europe’s largest queer festival, WHOLE. Taking over a site featuring two shipping containers next to the lakeside “beach”, the Uhaul Dyke Beach Bar was designed like a used car dealership and featured handpainted signs, an indoor love nest and a tyre-clad amphitheatre for guests to crowd around and watch the scheduled entertainment of competitive bar sports. design and build for Field Maneuvers 2026 After the second year of bringing Uhaul Dyke Rescue and the Mobile Dyke Bar to Field Maneuvers, the festival invited myself and my collaborator Ali Wagner to redesign their Packet Inn venue for the 2026 edition. This pub-themed area was a staple of the Norfolk festival but was in need of an upgrade. The Packet Inn used to squeeze three functions into a single tent:&nbsp; the festival’s main bar, a hangout destination with sofa seating, and a dancefloor. This year we pulled it out into three spaces: the bar and pub garden, a dedicated pub tent with lots of seating, wall trinkets and of course the trademark darts and fruities, and finally the Function Room - a brand new (and massive) dance tent that took inspiration from the back rooms of Working Men’s Clubs. <img width="2500" height="1667" width_o="2500" height_o="1667" the second venue designed and programmed by my collective Uhaul Dyke Rescue at Mighty Hoopla in Brockwell Park. An indoor dance venue styled like a backstreet mechanic’s, the venue has existed since 2025. The exterior was built by FAULDS Creative Works based on my designs and creative direction, with the interior stylings created by my team and the programming of an all-FLINTA lineup of DJs and gogos Nurnberg and co-produced alongside Ali Wagner, Uhaul Dyke Rescue is an events platform making space for the FLINTA community in London and beyond. As a festival collective, Uhaul has brought its venues, hosted entertainment and takeovers to stages including Glastonbury, Mighty Hoopla, Field Manuevers, Body Movements and WHOLE.&nbsp;Outside of festival season, Uhaul runs its own club nights - the Uhaul Dyke Raves - at venues such as The Yard in Hackney Wick and Distillery N17 in Tottenham. Each edition has a different theme — from the anti-Valentine’s Valentine’s ball to a secret New Year’s Eve lock-in at an actual working garage — and features bespoke performances, visuals and club The Migros team built the wooden frame on site from my drawings using scrap material from the workshop. alongside Ana Tiene, Marie Malarie, Lydia Garnett and Wet Mess. They band write songs about dyke longing, mommy issues and horses, and perform irregularly at venues in east and south-east London like the Shacklewell Arms, The Victoria and Matchstick Piehouse. In 2020, they made a music video for their first single, Lonely Cowgirl, a tale of romance between a dyke trucker and a cowgirl that is set at a fantasy roadside bar. The video won the Iris Prize for best LGBTQ+ Community Film, and was also nominated for the best music video at Raindance and best wardrobe in a music video at the UKMVAs. The video was selected at festivals including Fringe! Queer Film &amp; Arts Fest and Leeds International Film Festival.
